What I Do
I provide independent research, systems analysis, process analysis, knowledge organization, and technical communication for organizations that need someone who can investigate a problem, understand what is actually happening, and make the information usable.
My work may involve researching an unfamiliar subject, evaluating and synthesizing sources, interviewing subject-matter experts, mapping or examining a process, identifying gaps and inconsistencies, organizing fragmented information, or creating documentation and other technical content.
I work across subject areas and adapt to the needs of the engagement. The problem doesn’t have to arrive neatly defined. Part of my work is figuring out what the problem actually is, what information is missing, and what needs to be understood before a useful solution can be produced.
INCENTIVES & CONSTRAINTS
Behind every complicated problem are forces pulling it in different directions. People rarely behave randomly. Systems rarely break for no reason. Something is pulling, something is limiting, and something is usually hiding in plain sight. This is where I go looking.
